Just like powering off a desktop computer without properly shutting it down through the software can result in the system booting up in an unstable state, so can turning off a JumpBox application via the virtualization software (suspending is okay). The proper way to shutdown a JumpBox is via the following process.
- Find and click the "shutdown" icon in the admin control panel.

Confirm your choice.

You'll see a series of status messages as the machine shuts down. If you're using VMware it will automatically close the window. Parallels does not recognize the final shutdown instruction s you'll need to manually close the window. it's safe to close it when you see the staus message "Machine will now halt."
