Fast(er) setup for WordPress suggestion

JumpBox on Amazon EC2

I tried out the WordPress amis and noted that it includes WP 2.5 which prompts for 2.6 due to the new method of notification for upgrades.

Going forward, could Instant Upgrade be included as a default plugin with HTTP method supplied and proper permissions set prior?

i.e.
http://www.zirona.com/software/wordpress-instant-upgrade

Also, inclusion of libcurl for PHP5 would be a nice thing to have by default.

Otherwise --- nice stuff!

Amazon S3 has problems right now

They say it is up as of 5:16pm PDT but I just tried to backup to S3 and it failed. Also, in my experience there can be small bumps (5-10 minutes) that never make it onto the AWS dashboard.

Error: Broken pipe

When setting up Amazon S3 backup when you select "Run backup now" button an "Error: Broken pipe" above the Backup Status.
