Hi,
Several features of the SugarCRM 1.1.1 JumpBox are not working, and I suspect this is due to incorrect permissions within the file system. Several other threads mention similar issues, but I am having problems with the below features. Please let me know if any of these are not related to permissions, and when a revised version will be made available:
1. Admin > Upgrade Wizard
Error message: ./upgradeWizard.log could not be created/written to. Please fix permissions on your SugarCRM directory.
2. Admin > System Settings > Logos
Regardless of image format or size, it will not update correctly.
3. Admin > Locale Settings > Default Currency
Any changes submitted do not take affect. I am trying to change the default to Australian Dollars (AUD) and after clicking "Save" the changes are discarded.
4. Admin > Module Loader
Folders have incorrect permissions. This has been mentioned & confirmed in another thread (http://www.jumpbox.com/node/1299)
I am trying to evaluate several CRM systems and found the JumpBox products while looking for vTiger and SugarCRM platforms. Unfortunately, the problems listed above are preventing me from properly evaluating the SugarCRM, and certainly make me think twice before registering the JumpBox. If I did register (and had SSH access) would I be able to correct these issues myself, or do I need to wait for the Admins to post an updated box?
Thanks for your help.
Various permission problems
We typically try to create our applications with a safe configuration. Having the SugarCRM5 directory and code writable is not exactly as safe practice so we tried to avoid it in this instance. We have decided that this was a mistake and have changed the permissions on our upcoming SugarCMR5 release (should be released with 24 hours). Some of the issues you mention will be resolved by this.
As a general note, if you were to register the JumpBox and enable shell access you wouldn't necessarily have to wait for a new release to remedy problems like this. You could simply resolve it yourself, perhaps with help from these forums.
Also, in general, the application upgrade wizard may upgrade the application correctly but it may also break the integration with the JumpBox so we advise you to not use it and stick to our backup restore mechanism. However, you can certainly make your mind up for yourself.
