Webmail & Packet Manager broken

JumpBox for OTRS Discussion

I've updated to 1.1.1 with OTRS 2.3.1 today and restored by backup from OTRS 2.2.7. Unfortunately, the WebMail link is now producing the error

Software error:

Bad arg length for Socket::pack_sockaddr_in, length is 0, should be 4 at /usr/lib/perl/5.8/Socket.pm line 201.
For help, please send mail to the webmaster ([no address given]), giving this error message and the time and date of the error.

I wanted to try deinstalling and reinstalling the webmail module, but the packet manager has no more repositories listed! So that will not work either.

Can you please help me?

This is unclear to me, are you saying that you installed the Webmail Package through the package manager in an older JumpBox, then upgraded to a newer JumpBox and now it is not working? That would not surprise me since there is probably a newer version of the Webmail package.

What I would try, is to go back to the older one, disable the webmail plugin there, then back it up, then use that new backup to restore to the new Jumpbox, then restore the new correct version of the webmail package there.

Simply put, they may not work in general, and they may cause problems on upgrade.

By saying that I upgraded, I did a complete replacement of the JumbBox including OTRS and only tried to save the data by doing a backup and then a restore after installing the new JumpBox.

However, in the meantime I found the reason for error being an address change. This is reproducable, and most probably a bug:

Download and start fresh JumpBox 1.1.2 including OTRS 2.7.1
Network configuration is being assigned automatically by DHCP
Change adress to manual configuration and restart
Webmail and some other mail related functions are broken and will not work anymore.

It turns out that the link to the Postmaster POP3 Account ( http://192.168.2.171/otrs/index.pl?Action=AdminPOP3 ) seem broken, too. I'm getting this error here:

Error: Module Kernel/Modules/AdminPOP3.pm not found!

I need some clarification on this, Where do you see this error? I am not sure where that URL is. Where in the interface do you encounter it?
