Your ISP might also be filtering based on the email in the from address. Do you know if they allow email that originates using addresses outside their domain to pass through?

well I am not getting errors. The emails just never arrive at the destination. So I was trying to figure out if they are in the system (pbb)anywhere or if there were error messages to read.
Using their relay is what you need to do. If they require authenticated SMTP then you'll have to provide that info in order to send mail. What error are you getting from PunBB?

I am using my ISP mail server. WhenI add a name and password PunBB throws an error. When I leave them blank, no error. While experimenting with user administration, I was able to send an email from the user config section and receive it. That may not have been an accurate test because the email account was with the isp. Either way, it's not working now. If I am using their mail server to relay, should it matter if the block out boun 25? Can you suggest an open relay on a diferent port. If not, I guess I may have to find one.

I understand (i think) how to set up out bound email server, but it seems my registration emails go nowhere. Is there a place to see pending registrations or trouble shoot email issues. Are there logs to view?

Does your ISP block outbound port 25? How are you configuring the email settings?
