Alfresco 3.2 with WCM

The JumpBox for Alfresco version 1.1.4 includes Alfresco 3.2 and now contains the WCM component. This component adds a lot of new functionality to the JumpBox and is quite complex. To some extent the new WCM features are a work in progress, though largely functional. The rest of Alfresco should be completely functional.

This thread is intended to serve as a point of reference for users who experience trouble and a place where users can provide feedback.

At this point, we believe the following to be true:

  • The Alfresco Share application (on /share) should function as expected.
  • The Alfresco Web Studio application (on /studio) is known not to function in this release.
  • Before you can preview a Web Project in Alfresco WCM you will need to follow these instructions:
  • To get started using WCM on this JumpBox please see these instructions:
  • The Alfresco Samba (Windows Share) server is now functional and running by default.
  • Internationalization does not work in this release, we will work to remedy this.
  • This JumpBox can only restore from backups generated by versions 1.1.1 and 1.1.2 of the Alfresco JumpBox.

SPP not working?

Am trying to use the sharepoint protocol support in alfresco but doesn't seem to be working. According to:
http://wiki.alfresco.com/w/images/b/b3/Getting_Started_with_SPP_Support_...
should be on port 7070 but safari reports can’t open the page “http://192.168.1.124:7070/” because Safari can’t connect to the server “192.168.1.124”

SPP not working?

This is probably true. We did not verify that the sharepoint functionality was working. We will try to address this in the next release. In the meantime if we come across a simple process for users to get SPP working on this release themselves we will share it.

Sorry about that.

Slow Alfresco Startup after Setup

If it seems that Alfresco is taking a long time to start after you have completed setup you are right! We will look into this and see if it can be improved, but I don't think we have many options on this.

You should also note that we have increased the default amount of RAM allocated to Alfresco in this release. It is now 768 MB. If your host does not have sufficient RAM this slow startup will only be worse. Feel free to increase the RAM allocation as you see fit. I think 768 is a good starting point though.

Sorry about that, but remember you don't reboot all that often do you?

Austin

PS - When I say "a long time" I mean up to 10 minutes on a sufficiently modern host. Yeah, long.
