I realize this is a complete newb question. I'm a complete newb.
I've gotten a free Joomla! Jumpbox up and running to host my new website (using VMWare PLayer), and have it on a spare computer over my broadband connection. All seems well.
My question is this: is it possible (either with these free solutions or with an inexpensive paid solution) to add applications (security, AV, etc.) to this? If so, what's the proper way to do that - do I somehow add apps to the Jumpbox, or am I installing additional apps in the VM?
Please keep the answers simple - I'm just wrapping my head around the whole VM concept. Just assume I'm stupid for a while. :)

JumpBoxes are running Ubuntu
JumpBoxes are running Ubuntu Linux 8.04, and in your case with Joomla already installed. You can add anything else you like, it is your computer, but I can't guarantee certain software will work or work with with Joomla or Ubuntu. But a JumpBox makes it much easier to try, experiment, throw it out, repeat as necessary.
Just don't experiment on your production machine, ok?
You may want to look at the wiki ... http://wiki.jumpbox.com/doc/Main_Page in particular the runtime section ... http://wiki.jumpbox.com/doc/runtime
