I got the Zenoss Jumpbox up and running, entered a password at the configuration screen, but I can't log in to Zenoss with that password. The release notes say that I should be able to log in to Zenoss using the account "admin" with the password I provided during the Jumpbox configuration, but I can't. I'm sure that I'm entering the password correctly because I can log into the jumpbox with that password. I just can't log in to Zenoss.
Zenoss login
Well, usually these problems arise from the few exceptions in login username. Some apps don't use admin. We document these exceptions on the welcome page on the JumpBox (http://IPADDRESS/jb/welcome.html) and the application's admin_login page in our wiki. But as you can see here, it seems the username is actually admin:
http://wiki.jumpbox.com/doc/app/zenoss/faq/admin_login
So, in this case, you can try resetting the app admin password on the linux command line with the following command, make sure you substitute PASSWORD for your desired password:
Also note, setting it this way, you should avoid punctuation, just use letters and numbers.

Not as much luck with login
I just installed the 1.5.0 version and I'm having the same problem. Confirmed password, re-installed, ran the above script to change the password. Still unable to log into the application with the user name admin.
Not as much luck with login
Can you tell me more about your environment? What platform its running on? We have recently discovered an issue if you go through JumpBox setup immediately the password may not get set. You have to give it a minute or two for all of the Zenoss daemons to start.
Setting it on the command line, as shown above, should work, as long as all of the zenoss daemons have started. The following command should show all of the processes up:
If they aren't you could start them, or stop and start them:
or
Then run the password set command. Though the daemons should be starting. They do start in our tests. There is something we are overlooking, because we have had a few people report issues.
We have some ideas about how to deal with the slow starting Zenoss daemons, but I am getting the feeling that we just don't know the full story at this point. So any information you can provide would be helpful.

Jumpbox environment
Checking the zenoss status, the following programs are all listed as running:
zeoctl
zopectl
zenhub
zenjobs
zenping
zensyslog
zenstatus
zenactions
zentrap
zenmodeler
zenperfsnmp
zencommand
zenprocess
zenwin
zeneventlog
zenjmx
I did perform the start/start as suggested with no change in results. "THe entered password or username is incorrect.".
The environment I am running it on is VMware ESX 3i version 3.5.0 build 207095
The ESX hardware is Dell PowerEdge 2650 wity 2 CPU x 2.784 GHz, type Intel Zeon CPU 2.80GHz
I made no changes to the jumpbox when sending the jumpbox to the ESX using the VMware vCenter Converter Standalone Server Version 4.0.0 build 146302.
The final jumpbox reports the following to ESX:
Ubuntu Linux (32-bit)
1 vCPU
768 MB
102.45 MB
VMware Tools: OK
While the services appeared to be slow to start, I wouldn't think that it would impact the login process once they all started.

Thank you for the thorough response.
If you are certain that all of those processes were running when you ran the set password command, I am not sure what could have gone wrong. Oh, what about trying a simpler password truck45.
Austin
I did try a simple password
I did try a simple password of 1111. Still no access.
Zenoss login
Well, I suggested something slightly more complicated just in case they enforce an alpha character. Try with truck45. Output should look roughly like:
If that doesn't work the last thing to try is to go straight to app and set it that way. I will follow up with that in a minute.
Austin
Yes, I tried the truck45.
Yes, I tried the truck45. didn't mix the alpa case though. Until we can figure out what is going on, I'm installing the previous version of the jumpbox that I already saved. I know I was able to access that one.
Thanks Austin. I'll watch for your replies.

The manual process is as follows. When you type sudo, you may be prompted for the admin user password.

Success!
Austin, that did the trick. Thanks so much for sticking with this problem. I really didn't want to deploy on an older version.
I was able to login with admin/wombat.
Thanks again!
Steve
It works!
Your suggestion worked - Thanks Austin!
