Please be kind - I am not very technical, but I usually get by as I can follow directions. I was advised that the best place to start would be to download VMWare Player for running a Joomla Jumpbox on a Windows machine. I downloaded VMWare Player. Next "simply extract the JumpBox for Joomla zip file and double-click the JumpBox.vmx file inside." Okay, first problem: I do not see such a file name.
There is a file that displays just as "Jumpbox" with a 3D box-like icon so I clicked that instead and then get an error "File not found: disks/root/root.vmdk This file is required to power on this virtual machine. If this file was moved, please provide its new location." Of course, I have no idea what this all means. So was something assumed that I do not know? I have searched the internet for an answer and have found some stuff on Virtual Box - was I supposed to download this AND the VMWare Player to get it to work?
I downloaded Jumpbox for Joomla joomla15-1.1.15 and VMWare Player 2.5.3 build 185404 and have a Windows Vista machine. Any help that you can direct me to or give this grateful newbie is much appreciated!

No .vmx file on Joomla Jumpbox
I think the most common problem experienced by newbies is that they don't actually fully extract the JumpBox from the zipfile. Windows is a little tricky. If you double click on a zipfile it will appear to open it and show you whats inside, but it hasn't actually uncompressed anything. If you try to launch the JumpBox this way, I think this is the error you get.
Try right clicking on the JumpBox zipfile and choosing "Extract all" or something like that. Extract it to somewhere on your disk. When that is done, then you can try launching it by double clicking on the JumpBox.vmx file.

Resolved - No .vmx file on Joomla Jumpbox
Austin, thank you very much! That was my newbie mistake for sure. Extract all (cannot believe I didn't think of that) resolved the issue and then running the Jumpbox really was a snap. Thank you again.
