Stuck on Configuring the application

Hi I am running Jumpbox for Joomla on VMWare which is installed on a Windows 7 x64.

I setup a static IP on the virtual machine, and then access the web page which takes me to the "initial_setup" screen.

I fill in all the information, and then a popup appears saying "Configuring the application. Please wait." The progress bar does animate, but it never fills up. I have left it on this screen for an hour to no avail.

I do note that I can access the Joomla site, which is great, but I can not access the jumpbox adminstration page on https://my_internal_ip:3000/

Any suggestions?

What browser did you use? Is it possible that you could try setting up a new JumpBox with a different browser and let me know if your results differ? Also, which VMware are you using?

I found out part of the solution. I solved the problem where the "configuring the application" stays stuck on the browser. For some reason I had to open up our firewall to allow the VMWare machine out to the external web on port 80.

However now after I see the page that says "Welcome to JumpBox for Joomla 1.5" I click on the jumpbox administation link, and I get:
on IE8: Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage
on Firefox: Unable to connect Firefox can't establish a connection to the server
on Google Chrome: Network Access Message: The page cannot be displayed

Internally all ports are open on the firewall, though I did try just incase to add TCP port 3000, with no success.

I've run a port scan to the vmware machine, and I can see 3 ports open: 80, 443 & 3000. 3000/tcp open http Apache httpd 2.2.8 (PHP/5.2.4-2ubuntu5.7 with Suhosin-Patch mod_ssl/2.2.8 OpenSSL/0.9.8g)

I managed to sort out the issue. It was all caused by our ISA Firewall server. So I'll post the solution for anybody else that might get stuck like I did.

Very simply, if you are using ISA server you need to create a SSL Tunnel port 3000. There are programs you can get to do this. I used ISAtpre which is a very simple and easy to use program.

Thanks for your feedback!

All JumpBoxes need inbound tcp ports 80, 3000 (ssl to the admin portal) and optionally 22 (ssh) and 443 (ssl to the app, if you enable it). Some JumpBoxes require additional ports, these are documented on their JumpBox Documenation Wiki pages at:

http://wiki.jumpbox.com/

I think I need to start asking "Is there a firewall between your browser and the JumpBox?" as my first question.

Glad you figured it out.

Also, the outbound port 80 is not strictly necessary, it should fail gracefully.

having the same problem

None of my browsers will open the http address to configure my jumpbox; I'm afraid I don't quite understand how to negotiate the port/firewall issue described above. Any advice about how to make this work would be greatly appreciated.
