Had to install a new hard drive and lost my VMWare player and JumpBox application for SugarCRM. After installing new software for both today, I find that logging in to SugarCRM does not show any of my previously loaded information. All contacts and templates are gone.
The only difference I find is that the IP address from before was 192.168.0.6 and now it's 192.168.0.4.
I did not perform backups previously as I was still setting up the CRM database...I'm guessing that I should have, huh?
Yeah, all of the data you put into SugarCRM is saved on the virtual machine's hard drive, which is in a few files on your host computer (in the disks/ subdirectory that was created when you unzipped the JumpBox). If you don't have copies of those files and haven't set up backups to another machine, then I am afraid that your data perished with your hard disk.

Okay, that will help. Two questions though:
- Which backup/restore feature should be used - inside SugarCRM or from the Jumpbox admin? If from within SugarCRM, what folder is writable to do the backup, and then how do we get that backup file actually moved to the new Jumpbox instance?
- With the new Jumpbox 1.0.2, will we need to re-register each time you release a new incremental version?
For all JumpBoxes you should use the JumpBox backup/restore feature. It will grab all of the appropriate data. If for some reason you don't want to do a Windows Share(samba)/NFS style backup you always have the option of using any backup mechanism provided by the application if it provides one. Check our Tutorials for tips on backing up. It largely depends on what resources you have at your disposal.
As for re-registering, that depends on what registration level you chose. At the time of this posting, the key you get with a Basic registration will register any JumpBox (of the same type) released within a 30 day period. Buying a Silver registration will give you one year worth of new JumpBox revisions.
For safety reasons, the SugarCRM JumpBox webserver cannot write to most of the SugarCRM files. Unfortunately, the update feature of SugarCRM depends on being able to do this. Fortunately, we have recently released version 1.0.2 of the JumpBox for SugarCRM, which contains SugarCRM 4.5.1e. If you have added data to the SugarCRM JumpBox, you can use the backup and restore features to move this data to a new version of the JumpBox.

Hi, I'm trying to change the language into italian, loading a local module, but, I've a permission denied on:
Warning: copy(/var/data/sugarcrm/./manifest.php) [function.copy]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in /var/data/sugarcrm/modules/Administration/UpgradeWizard_commit.php on line 239
Could not copy file /var/data/sugarcrm/cache/upload/upgrades/temp/EbFUKE/./manifest.php to /var/data/sugarcrm/./manifest.php
Hello
Could you tell me what version of the SugarCRM JumpBox you are using and provide a link to the module you are trying to use?
UPDATE - I have recreated this bug with our latest release (1.0.2b) and the Italian language pack from sugarforge. We will take a look at this and get back to you.

We've just registered our installation of SugarCRM Jumpbox. We are trying to update SugarCRM in the Jumpbox to the current version (4.5.1e) using SugarCRM's Update Wizard. When running the pre-update System Check, it reports a very long list of files with Bad Permissions.
