Hi,
Excuse my ignorance as I am very much a newbie to VM and TWiki. I am trying to change the skin as in http://twiki.org/cgi-bin/view/Plugins/DragonSkin
It says to Unzip DragonSkin.zip in your twiki installation directory. With VM - where is that?
Many Thanks!
The upgrade process is to
The upgrade process is to backup the old version (using the JumpBox backup mechanism) and restore to the new version using that backup. This isn't too difficult if you are familiar with setting up Windows or NFS network shares. There are some gotchas depending on your environment. Check out http://www.jumpbox.com/docs, there are some docs there to provide a starting point. Let me know if you run into a snag.

Hi Neil, What version of
Hi Neil,
What version of the TWiki JumpBox are you using? I will assume its version a 1.0.1 TWiki JumpBox. If its not let me know.
Unfortunately the Skin you want can't be installed using Twiki's Plugin Manager (not to mention there is a problem in the 1.0.1 JumpBox that breaks the Plugin Manager, fixed in 1.0.2 which we released today). So installing this particular plugin will take some work on the command line.
So, the first thing you have to do is enable shell/SSH access on your JumpBox as shown here: http://www.jumpbox.com/docs/enableshell
Now you should SSH into your JumpBox using the admin username and password and the IP address shown on the JumpBox console. Once you are logged in issue the following command:
You will now have the theme in that directory in the file dragonskin.zip. Now you need to change into the TWiki directory and unzip that file:
Now, you can read the Dragon Skin page to get more details about setting it up by typing DragonSkinInstall into the Find Topic box on your Twiki. The gist of those instructions are to type
* Set SKIN = dragon * Set DS_THEME = tabstyleinto the WebPreferences page. I put it under the Themes section. You may need to make some more settings under other the Twiki Web or other places. The TWiki Documentation is a little weak and understanding their preferences system takes a little getting used to. After doing that I had the Quick Links menu that was empty, right below the place I edited above I put
* Set DS_QUICKLINKS =

[[TWiki.DragonSkin][Change me]]

* Set DS_QUICKLINKSHEADING = "Footastic"That should get you set off in the right direction. If you find this too tedious, you might grab the 1.0.2 TWiki JumpBox and try one of the themes that can be installed through the TWiki plugin manager. It will allow you to skip all of the command line steps above.
Good Luck and let me know if you have any problems.
Austin
Thanks
Hi Austin,
Thanks for the legendary instructions!
BTW I upgraded to the 1.0.2 but could not find any new themes or plugins apart from the standard ones that were already included in 1.0.1 - Am I looking in the wrong place.
Also as an fyi I could not get the zip through ssh for some reason so I ftp'd it using these instructions http://www.jumpbox.com/archives/247_can-you-access-a-jumpbox-via-ftp.html and then unzipped it using ssh. Would it have worked if I just unzipped it normally and then ftp'd it?
Many Thanks
Neil
Yeah, the TWiki
Yeah, the TWiki configuration page is not really integrated into the TWiki application. So you have to go to the URL http://IPADDRESS/twiki/bin/configure/. You will be asked for a username and password, the username is admin, and the password is whatever you provided at setup.
At the bottom of that page you will see "Plugins" and if you follow the link to "Find More Extensions" you will see there are a good number of external plugins and skins you can install. We don't support or endorse these in any way, but as always we will do our best to help you out. Once again, this only works starting with the 1.0.2 version.
Good luck

Error on "Find More Extensions"
Hi Austin,
I get this error when following the ling to "Find More Extensions"
Find TWiki Extensions

Do you know what may be going on here?
Thanks
Neil
Not sure. I get a list of
Not sure. I get a list of Extensions. Maybe the server it trys to connect to (something managed by TWiki BTW) was down when you tried. Your JumpBox can access the internet right? Otherwise that would explain it. That page goes out and contacts the TWiki site or something along those lines.

Upgrade process
Hi Austin,
Thanks for the info above. i will give it a bash.
In the interim, what is the upgrade process from moving from 1.0.1 to 1.0.2?
Many thanks
Neil
Is this possible - how?
Hi,
I would very much like to add skins and plugins to the TWiki install - I presume this is possible as this is one of the main advantages of the TWiki system?
Please can you let me know how I do this as soon as possible? Do I need to use one of my assurance support incidents to get this resolved?
Thanks
Neil
